ACEM / College approval

ACEM Training

In general, in order to have your training experience in Papua New Guinea counted towards your time requirements for the FACEM training program, a once-off pre-approval must be granted from the Accreditation Subcommittee, prior to the commencement of the placement. This type of training will be classified as a Category T Special Skill Placement and its accreditation status will be determined on a case by case basis.

Please complete the TA157 Overseas SSP Application and provide all relevant supporting documents as indicated in the form, at least three months before the start date. The complete application is to be sent to accreditation@acem.org.au for processing. Please note the College does not accept any hard copies.

Before starting on the TA157 form, please read through AC95 SSP Accreditation Process Guide – section 1 & 2 and AC638 SSP Accreditation Policy to get an overview on the education standard required for Special Skill Placements as well as the administrative processes associated with the accreditation of Special Skills Placements.

All of these mentioned above documents can be found here: https://acem.org.au/Content-Sources/Training/Training-site-accreditation

As this is a paper-based approval, it is highly recommended that detailed information is to be supplied, when addressing each criteria in the application form, to facilitate the assessment process for the Subcommittee.

FAQ:

What is the difference between the Placement Supervisor and the Australian/New Zealand Remote FACEM Supervisor?

The Placement Supervisor will the overseas consultant, who will supervise your placement in Papua New Guinea and complete your In-Training Assessment(s). On the other hand, the Australian/New Zealand Remote FACEM Supervisor will be your point of contact as well as support in Australia/New Zealand for any assistance needed while you are completing this placement.

Under Regulation B, TA157 Overseas SSP Application(s) will be considered for a total of 12 months approved training, including:

–          Up to six months approved non ED training and

–          Up to six months approved discretionary training (ED or Non – ED)

If approved, all ED training may only count as either discretionary training time, whilst non-ED training time may count towards both non-ED training time and discretionary training time.
